More than 6 months after winning the bid to design Fuzhou's first marina complex, the arduous work of detailing and expanding the competition scheme begins. Shaped as dynamic tridimensional vortices, the two complementary objects also act as vortices on the urban canvas, attracting and merging urban life into a powerful and integrated lifestyle mix of leisure, entertainment, themed shopping arcades and luxury accommodation.
FEBRUARY 2015 - Zhuhai_JYLS: Urban Erosions
Inspired by the natural gulf formations carved out by the long-term erosion of the maritime coastlines, the design tries to recreate these breath-taking landscapes that organically suit the yachting theme. At the urban scale, the erosions create public plazas through a gesture that also carves out more commercial fronts from the initial urban monoliths. At a further detailed, architectural level, the erosions are employed to carve out private loggias and balconies or sheltered public spaces for active commercial usage.
